Janice Culley, writer and program developer, is the mother of four children and raised several American Indian children as well -- and NONE of them fit in the traditional school setting. In her search for solutions to her children’s difficulties, she tried therapy, tutoring, rewards-based drilling, natural-consequence parenting, student-driven learning, child psychology research, medical intervention, and medication, but she became very discouraged with all of these conventional treatments for learning. Nothing she tried seemed to make a noticeable or lasting difference.
After many years of investigating numerous educational and psychological programs to help her children, it became clear that nothing was really "available" to help resolve the issues she saw, and she would need to get creative in order to master these problems. She became adept at fine-tuning unconventional approaches that worked for her children. And the more she did this with success, the more she discovered the real answers were contained within herself. Her process to teaching led to incorporating various processes and practices that were so transformational, she finally developed a formal and effective program on teaching students how to learn.
During her research and through her personal experiences, Janice came to understand that our society in general and the educational establishment in particular are focused on “quick-fix” and "fit-in-a-box" scenarios which can polarize the brain and cause acute levels of stress and no real solutions.
As she researched the child education field, Janice trained and became certified in Neuro-Linguistic Programming, Educational Kinesiology, Reiki, Reconnection Healing and various areas dealing with the way the brain processes information. Over the years, she wrote learning programs that became so highly sought-after, she was asked to teach in youth-treatment facilities and private schools, and she eventually developed a program that became the formal curriculum for an entire school district for off-track youth.
As Janice discovered what constitutes true learning, she desired to educate and train struggling students to help them access more of their innate intelligence. She developed the Pathways Parent Coaching Program, and then began to train individuals for certification in the Pathways Program.
She has trained instructors and administrators throughout the U.S. in the Pathways processes, and has licensed five learning centers (three in the U.S., and one each in Guam and Guatemala). Her goal is to make this program available to as many administrators, teachers, parents, and children as possible, so all children can learn to integrate both sides of their brain in a holistic way.
Janice has been a featured speaker at women’s and teacher's conferences and has been a guest on several radio and T.V. programs. She knew that to truly make a difference in this field, she had to go outside of the traditional, conventional ways of teaching and learning. She believes, as Einstein did, that the significant problems we have cannot be solved at the same level of thinking ith which they were created.
By understanding and practicing various processes of thinking and being, individuals learn to live their lives by being in the "Zone,” unlocking the full potential of the mind, heart, and soul. By being in the "Zone,” individuals live in the flow and come into alignment, with who they are and what they are meant to do and to be on this planet - becoming more plugged in and creative than they once believed they could be.
After years of practicing this brand of learning and accumulation of information, Janice went on to progress herself, always looking for answers from "within." She fine-tuned her own studies, and began an awakening process that lead to a larger source of power and presence of mind than she had yet experienced. This "spiritual zone" became her mantra: "live in the zone," she would say, to describe what it felt like to operate in the flow of things, and become a marksmen of manifesting life dreams and goals.
By being in the "Spiritual Zone,” individuals live in the flow and come into alignment, becoming more enlightened and universally free.
She has written a book entitled “Kindling the Fire Within” which helps parents understand who THEY are, which is key in unlocking the potential for their own children’s growth. The book is a transformational process which leads to pathways of unlimited possibilities.
